Modeling

A la mode is always on the lookout for new aspiring models in our local area who are looking to get started in the fashion industry. A la mode is a small company and therefore doesn’t have the resources to pay thousands of dollars for contracted agency models. Therefore, we are forced to be creative, to think of new ways of doing things and to find people with whom we can partner with in a mutually beneficial way. Although a la mode is not a modeling agency, we do require the services of models frequently for a variety of purposes, some of which are described below:

· Product images for our website
· Marketing activities
· YouTube instructional videos
· Live events

It is our understanding that models who either are just getting into the business or are modeling on the side have different reasons and expectations for what they are looking to get out of jobs. Of course, the primary expectation is monetary compensation, but some of the other reasons we have encountered include:

· Free merchandise
· Recognition / exposure
· Building a portfolio

Modeling is a unique activity and the requirements seem to change drastically depending on the employer, the job, the product, the activity, and several other factors. A la mode, Inc is a high-end intimate apparel retailer and therefore models who work with us need to be comfortable with themselves and their bodies. Our primary products are bras, panties, camisoles, shapewear and chemises, which by nature are revealing and personal. Being comfortable dressing in and being photographed in these types of items requires a confident and self-assured person. Unlike most modeling activities that cater and focus on male viewers, it is important to understand that a la mode’s activities cater and focus on women viewers. Although the look, body type and personality are important to both, the specific requirements for each are very different. A la mode looks for beautiful, striking, distinct models who are able to convey through visual presentation, the idea of quality, comfort, and class. Typically this idea is best conveyed by models who have a natural look that other women can relate to and appear concerned with exercising, eating a well-balanced diet and pay attention to proper grooming habits.

In order to identify and attempt to establish relationships with models who appear to fit the image and lend support to our branding activities, a la mode, Inc has established a progression process to follow. These progression steps are detailed below:

1) Fill out the a la mode “Model Registration Form” and submit any pictures, previous work and/or comp cards for review.
2) A la mode will review the registration submission within 2 weeks and determine whether the model fits into the branding image that the company is attempting to convey.
3) Upon approval, the model will receive an invitation letter to visit the store and participate in a 30 minute fitting session to determine the types of products, colors and styles that best match the models look and body type.
4) At the conclusion of the fitting session, a follow-up meeting will be discussed and scheduled for a later date. This follow-up meeing will involve discussions related to interested activities, future scheduling, and possible contract drafting to outline rights, responsibilities and compensation.

Not everyone will the a la mode, Inc mold. Please do not equate our decision as a rating of you personally as a model. A la mode, Inc has a very distinct and specific look that we are interesting in using to market and display our products.
