As women across Annapolis and beyond search for “the perfect fit”, Annapolis retailer à la mode lingerie, located at 32 West Street, is celebrating the achievements of their newest employee Sarah Poinski for becoming a Certified Bra Fitter.
Sarah now joins the qualified staff at à la mode as they help fit women who come in to their shop to find a comfortable, supportive bra. More importantly, one that doesn’t cause them pain or experience issues like bra straps falling off their shoulders.
“Statistics indicate that 80% of women wear and buy the wrong bra size”, says Patricia Platt of à la mode. “But it’s not totally their fault that they are wearing the wrong size bra. As Sarah learned from her training, bra’s come in many different styles and sizes and bra sizing is not consistent between manufacturers. A woman can also change bra size due to even the slightest weight change not to mention the natural changes that occur to the breast due to age and motherhood”, says Platt.
Just like a shoe that is painful and hurts when it doesn’t fit correctly on your foot, an ill fitting bra can be painful and cause health related problems for the wearer. “We have women who are coming as far as Virginia seeking our help from bra pain and ill-fitting, poorly fitted bras” says new fitter Sarah Poinski of à la mode. “We help women find a bra that fits to their particular needs and we provide information to help them understand how their bra is supposed to fit and why it’s important for them to get it right”, says Poinski.
“Nursing, sports, mastectomy, petite to fuller figure bras - we fit for a woman’s shape, style and needs,” says Platt. “Having another bra fitter who is educated and certified to assist women to become happy with their bras and feeling good about themselves is certainly our goal”.
